TITLE:                                    Student Support Specialist

 

QUALIFICATIONS:     

 

 1. Certification as an adminstrator or in the process of aquiring Administration Certification.

 2. Minimum of 3 years Successful Teaching Experience.

 3. Master's Degree   

 

REPORTS TO:                       Principal or Superintendent Designee

 

SUPERVISES:                       Assigned personnel

 

JOB GOALS:                         To assist in promoting the educational well-being of  students; to assist administrator(s) with

                                           responsibilities to promote student success.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Identify instructional needs and cooperatively plan with administrator(s) to meet and achieve student achievement goals.

 

  • Coach and assist staff, as needed and directed by administrator (s).

 

  • Assist with all activities related to the development, writing and implementation of the school and/or district improvement plan.

 

  • Share the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of students.

 

  • Assist with College or Career Readiness with students regarding strengths and weaknesses and help them make decisions and choices.

 

  • Assist with student data and assessments.

 

  • Assist with programs and services for students.

 

  • Chair or serve on the Admission and Release Committees for exceptional child placement process on an as needed basis.

 

  • Assist in the conducting and implementing safety procedures.

 

  • Assist at the district and school level regarding students with special attendance, behavioral/emotional problems or discipline problems.

 

  • Assist in the interpretation of school and district programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community.

 

  • Assist in the orientation of new staff.

 

  • Adhere to professional code of ethics as established by the Education Professional Standards Board.

 

  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and development.

 

  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as requested by the administration.
