QUALIFICATIONS:               High school diploma or GED certificate

 

REPORTS TO:                      Custodial/Warehouse Manager and Custodial Supervisor

 

SUPERVISES:                       N/A

JOB GOAL:                         Perform routine custodial activities at assigned school site or                                                                                         facility to maintain buildings, locker rooms and adjacent

                                        grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.

 

DAILY CLEANING SCHEDULE:

 

  • Open/Close and secure all windows, doors and ensure building is secure during school hours.

 

  • Empty all trash/recycling containers in common areas, hallways, cafeteria and miscellaneous areas, including exterior containers.

 

  • Remove trash collected from cafeteria to the appropriate dumpster (includes exterior containers).

 

  • Lock and unlock doors as requested.

 

  • Clean common area glass, ledges, railings, sills, empty trash, and spot clean floor.

 

  • Spot clean all walls in hallways, and common areas.

 

  • Clean/sanitize all drinking fountains.

 

  • Dust tops of lockers and spot wipe spills.

 

  • Spot clean/monitor all stairwells, dust window sills, and remove trash and debris.

 

  • Clean miscellaneous spaces as needed.

 

  • Spot clean all entry ways, including glass.

 

  • Spot clean all restrooms/locker rooms and restock. Monitor restrooms throughout the day for cleanliness all floors and fixtures.

  • After passing period, monitor halls for debris.

 

  • Spot dust/mop vinyl, ceramic, terrazzo and linoleum floors.

 

  • Spot clean staff/faculty break room, remove trash.

 

  • Clean and restock closets.

 

  • Walk campus and assist with trash pick up.

 

  • After breakfast, help pick up any trash left on athletic outdoor spaces.

 

  • Assist with final café clean up after breakfast and lunch.

 

  • Inspect walls for peeling or chipping paint and report it to the Supervisor.

 

  • Report damaged ceiling tiles to Supervisor on a weekly basis.

 

  • Distribute copy paper weekly.

 

  • Identify any needed repairs and report them to the Supervisor.

 

  • Report all broken equipment and furniture to the Supervisor.

 

  • Set up and take down furniture for large group meetings, parent teacher conference, etc.

 

  • Set up and take down for athletic events as required.

 

  • Respond to emergency clean up as needed, including bus clean up of vomit or other blood borne pathogens.

 

  • Participate in the monthly fire drill and be aware of your responsibilities in case of a fire.

 

  • Clean and maintain equipment after each use.

 

  • Reuse and recycle material to reduce water by saving cardboard, cans and plastic.

 

  • Turn off lights in areas not occupied paying particular attention to cafeteria, gymnasium and parking lot.

 

  • Other assigned duties by Supervisors.

ABILITY TO:

 

  • Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings, locker rooms and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.

 

  • Use cleaning materials, equipment and methods according to pre-determined standards.

 

  • Learn and apply knowledge of the schedules, procedures and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.

 

  • Learn appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

 

  • Maintain tools and equipment assigned in clean working order and provide proper security.

 

  • Perform minor non-technical repairs.

 

  • Observe and report need for maintenance and repair.

 

  • Perform heavy physical labor.

 

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.

 

  • Meet schedules and time lines.

 

  • Communicate effectively with others.

 

  • Inspect and assure the security of facilities during assigned shift.
