QUALIFICATIONS: Certification by the Kentucky Department of Education/
Masters Degree in Teaching
Five (5) years of teaching experience highly desired
REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer and Staff Developer
JOB GOAL: Train and coach teachers to facilitate change in effective instructional strategies with primary focus on
improving student achievement, which will nurture best practices and ensure consistency of expectations
to support the engagement and achievement of all learners.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coaches teachers to be cognizant of and fully implement the 5 Main Things, including Curriculum Alignment, Teaching Norms, best practices in instruction, assessment, classroom practices, interventions, and communication strategies, Professional Learning Communities, and Intervention and Enrichment programs.
- Coaches teachers to use research-based effective instructional strategies, Thinking Strategies and assessment strategies consistent with the Kentucky Core Standards.
- Designs and models lessons.
- Meets with individual teachers on a regular basis to share ideas, solve problems, and provide feedback and follow-up support for on-going implementations of standards based curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Collaboratively works with staff to develop meaningful unit plans and assessments tied to academic expectations and core content to enhance ability in supporting students as they demonstrate a high level of accomplishment.
- Assists faculty in analyzing data.
- Provides training for implementation of intervention and enrichment.Collaborates with designing and providing job-embedded professional development to teachers.
- Serves as a resource by sharing educational research and best practice literature with school staff.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding the progress of identified teachers.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending meetings, workshops, and reading professional literature. Maintains appropriate in-depth knowledge of subject areas.
- Works throughout the district with curriculum, alignment, instruction and assessment.
- Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics as established by the Education Professional Standards Board.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
